Florence Fabricant of the New York Times features Bubby’s Apple Whiskey Crumble Pie in this Wednesday’s Dining Out section.

Silver and Jen Bervin (John Wiley & Sons, $29.95), was the obvious place to start.”"Almost all the autumn and winter pies in this book could find their way onto my Thanksgiving table.But I wanted one filled with fruit that was easy, and could be made in advance. I tried the whiskey-apple crumble pie, for which the apple slices are sautéed before they are put into the crust and baked, a technique that I have been using for a few years.
